That perhaps makes kuakata one of the world's unique beaches. The long and wide beach at Kuakata has a typical natural setting. This sandy beach has gentle slopes into the Bay of Bengal and bathing there is as pleasant as is walking or diving. Kuakata is truly a magnificent beach-a sanctuary for migratory winter birds, a series of coconut trees, sandy beach of blue Bay, a feast for the eye. Forest, boats plying in the Bay of Bengal with colourful sails, fishing, towering cliffs, surfing waves everything here touches every visitor's heart. The unique customs and costumes of the 'Rakhyne' tribal families and Buddhist Temple of about hundred years old indicate the ancient tradition and cultural heritage, which are objects of great pleasure Kuakata is the place of pilgrimage of the Hindus and Buddhist communities. Innumerable devotees arrive here at the festival of 'Rush Purnima' and 'Maghi Purnima'. On these two days they take holy bath and traditional fairs are held here. All these additional offers to panoramic beauty make the beach more attractive to the visitors. These are:<br /><strong>Sundarbans East Wildlife Sanctuary</strong>: Extends over an area of 31,227 ha. Freshwater and Sundri dominate interspersed with Gewa and Passur with Kankra occurring in areas subject to more frequent flooding. There is an understory of Shingra where, soils are drier and Amur in wetter areas and Goran in more saline places. Nypa palm widespread along drainage lines.<br /><strong>Sundarbans South Wildlife Sanctuary</strong>: Extends over an area of 36,970 ha. There is evidently the greatest seasonal variation in salinity levels and possibly represents an area of relatively longer duration of moderate salinity where Gewa is the dominant woody species. It is often mixed with Sundri, which is able to displace in circumstances such as artificially opened canopies where Sundri does not regenerate as effectively. It is also frequently associated with a dense understory of Goran and sometimes Passur.<br /><strong>Sundarbans West Wildlife Sanctuary</strong>: Extends over an area of 71,502 ha. Includes areas which support sparse Gewa and dense stands of Goran and discontinuous patches of Hantal palm on drier ground and river banks and levees. </span></em></div></div>teddyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00383914651258133151noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5881595533818799260.post-5800677043831501462009-12-03T01:42:00.000-08:002009-12-18T04:03:38.122-08:00Sundarbans - The Deepest Forest in Bangladesh<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhed-B9fHmVoiFLiC0aCNHB6bZAPnOdOv9Kb8EQySY7dzX7YSqsbMCrba9yGyNl1pDRcoyXXGJ1XPqpU8jEtoymGOUL9yFSaZgDhsOCsX0FPRLYGmCxx-omgtWP3Xmgb8Q5hxPHV5DKZKQ/s1600-h/150px-Alcedo_meninting.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5416544962198695762" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 150px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 132px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhed-B9fHmVoiFLiC0aCNHB6bZAPnOdOv9Kb8EQySY7dzX7YSqsbMCrba9yGyNl1pDRcoyXXGJ1XPqpU8jEtoymGOUL9yFSaZgDhsOCsX0FPRLYGmCxx-omgtWP3Xmgb8Q5hxPHV5DKZKQ/s320/150px-Alcedo_meninting.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihaZliwjzyM-MC2dLWjyaTfV9zt4Hx2mv698akddLsoJAn3B4TpdLseCPCwINK0blwyGL2EV8y1mX84WSiba7vHj2CuC1U8bh8pXtYWIes6P7n_cRdp9ws2BPsqJh5ARMAhEJbx8CzUYA/s1600-h/220px-Boat%252C_trees_and_water_in_Sundarbans_.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5410952645359758594" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 220px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 146px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihaZliwjzyM-MC2dLWjyaTfV9zt4Hx2mv698akddLsoJAn3B4TpdLseCPCwINK0blwyGL2EV8y1mX84WSiba7vHj2CuC1U8bh8pXtYWIes6P7n_cRdp9ws2BPsqJh5ARMAhEJbx8CzUYA/s320/220px-Boat%252C_trees_and_water_in_Sundarbans_.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5410952408657964754" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 220px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 146px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpBXlto4yiHMZZLjzsv12LSGhsJPuM49uGlYtcbATHex8jxU5xBuDZQIoRn4I3iVN5JKgLAsW_w9FGlspkzzthyphenhyphenN0PWtAh7I_gHjUSNQhddfZ1JS_w8kI1GO8GbEWWDBnNd3sn24jfaqU/s320/220px-Fishing_boats_in_Sundarbans.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div><div><em><span style="color:#336666;">The Sundarbans is an important wintering area for migrant water birds and is an area suitable for watching and studying avifauna.
