Teknaf Near Cox'sBazar


Southernmost tip of Bangladesh, Teknaf situated on the Naaf river and just at the end of the hilly regions of the Cox's Bazar district. Mayanmar is on the opposite bank of Naaf river. Wild animals and birds are available but the most interesting thing is a journey on the river. Wide sandy beach in the backdrop of high hills with green forests is an enchanting scene never to be forgotten.

Kuakata in Bangladesh


Kuakata is one of the rarest places which has the unique beauty of offering the full view of the rising and setting of crimson sun in the water of the Bay of Bengal in a calm environment. Innumerable devotees arrive here at the festival of 'Rush Purnima' and 'Maghi Purnima'. On these two days they take holy bath and traditional fairs are held here. Kuakata





A rare scenic beauty spot on the southern most tip of Bangladesh in the district of Patuakhali. It has a wide sandy beach from where one can get the unique opportunity of seeing both the sunrise and sunsetting. It is located at a distance of 70 km. from the district headquarters of Patuakhali. Bandarban- Another Forest of Bangladesh



Ruma is another hill town on the same rout of Chimbuk.You can also enjoy the Shailapropat a waterfall in Bandarban. Its also a tourist attraction of waterfall surrounded by hills & forest. Another tourist spot in Bandarban is Meghla - it’s a beautiful spot where you can enjoy boat or speedboat riding on the lake Meghla. If you are lucky you may see the wild animals in the forest. There are small shades in this spot to protect you from rains in the season of monsoon and from the hit of the Sun in hot summer days. A beautiful hanging wooden bridge enhances the beauty of this spot. In one side there are some constructions and facilities for people like tower, restaurant while on the other side is wild life, natural forest and hills. In the town you can visit the house where the king of tribe Chakma lives and from there you can visit the archeological museum of Bandarban. In this museum you will find the archeological history of the tribal life and the tribes of hill areas of Bandarban. The museum authority has set up various tribal houses in the museum, which will give you a brief idea of kinds of tribal houses, their design and architectural structures.

Bandarban




Lots of hills and hilly areas, waterfalls, River Sangu, Lakes and the tribal culture are the main attraction of Bandarban .You can go to Bandarban from Chittagong by road. Chimbuk hill is one of the major attractions of Bandarban. You can enjoy the journey to Chimbuk Hill by jig jag hilly roads. It’s the third highest mountain in Bangladesh of approx. 3000 ft height. Reach Chimbuk by jeep or microbus from Rangamati. A beautiful Rest house is there on the top of Chimbuk hill.If you are lucky then you can feel the clouds touching your whole body. If you take the prior permission from Roads and Highway Department you can spent a night in the rest house on the top of Chimbuk hill. If you stay there a night, you will remember your stay for your whole life with the calmness of nature hearing sometimes the wild animals squalling.

Khagrachhari is the natural wild beauty of Bangladesh. Here you can visit the tribal lifestyle of Chakmas in Khagrachari. You can also visit Alutila hill. Approximately 100 meters long a very dark Cave is the mysterious beauty of Alutila hill. Khagrachari is one of the most remote places in Bangladesh that amazes people of every corners of the world. This gorgeous town has yet to be researched by writers, yet it is one of central gathering places of indigenous hill tribes people including many Bengalis. Khagrachari


Khagrachari is a district in south-eastern Bangladesh. It is a part of the Chittagong division and the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Khagrachari town is the home town of the Mong Chief who is the head of the Arakanese descendants living in the circle. Khagrachari is a valley. It has three river namely Chengi, Kasalong and Maini. Chengi is the longest river in Khagrachari. Most of the land of Khagrachari are hilly areas.

The Hill Tracks in Rangamati


From Chittagong a 77 km. road amidst green fields and winding hills will take you to Rangamati and which will give you fresh air and fill your heart with joy. There are the tribal villages, King Chakma's (tribal) Palace that is called Chakma Rajbari, Rajbonbihar pagoda, Tribal museum etc. You can also enjoy the tribal handmaid crafts if you go for shopping in the local market. Rangamati is a district in south eastern Bangladesh and is a part of Chittagong Hill Tracks.

Kaptai Lake in Rangamati


Built in early sixties Kaptai Dam and the lake are the main attractions of Kaptai. People should go for a boating trip to Kaptai on the Kaptai Lake while touring Rangamati. Kaptai is an upazila under Rangamati district. It is famous for hydro-electric project. A panoramic man-made lake called Kaptai lake (680-sq. km.) in the midst of hills has added to its beauty. A pleasant and picturesque drive of 64 km. from Chittagong brings you to huge expanse of emerald and blue water ringed with tropical forest. Only 3 km. from Kaptai along Chittagong road, lies the ancient Chit Morong Buddhist temple having beautiful Buddhist statues.

Rangamati


Boating is the prime attraction in Rangamati. You can go to Kaptai and also by Karnaphuli River you can go deep in side the hill areas where on the way you will find lots of natural waterfalls.By boat you can visit the tribal villages, King Chakma's (tribal) Palace that is called Chakma Rajbari, Rajbonbihar pagoda, Tribal museum etc. You can also enjoy the tribal handmaid crafts if you go for shopping in the local market.

Rangamati - in Chittagong District


If you don’t visit Rangamati you will not discover a big portion of natural beauties of Bangladesh. From Chittagong a 77 km. road amidst green fields and winding hills will take you to Rangamati. It is also connected by waterway from Kaptai. This is the only place to visit through out the year. Rangamati expresses her full beauty in rainy season. Sundarbans - Wildlife Sanctuaries in Bangladesh


There are three wildlife sanctuaries established under the Bangladesh Wildlife Preservation Order. These are:
Sundarbans East Wildlife Sanctuary: Extends over an area of 31,227 ha. Freshwater and Sundri dominate interspersed with Gewa and Passur with Kankra occurring in areas subject to more frequent flooding. There is an understory of Shingra where, soils are drier and Amur in wetter areas and Goran in more saline places. Nypa palm widespread along drainage lines.
Sundarbans South Wildlife Sanctuary: Extends over an area of 36,970 ha. There is evidently the greatest seasonal variation in salinity levels and possibly represents an area of relatively longer duration of moderate salinity where Gewa is the dominant woody species. It is often mixed with Sundri, which is able to displace in circumstances such as artificially opened canopies where Sundri does not regenerate as effectively. It is also frequently associated with a dense understory of Goran and sometimes Passur.
Sundarbans West Wildlife Sanctuary: Extends over an area of 71,502 ha. Includes areas which support sparse Gewa and dense stands of Goran and discontinuous patches of Hantal palm on drier ground and river banks and levees.

Sundarbans - The Deepest Forest in Bangladesh





The Sundarbans is an important wintering area for migrant water birds and is an area suitable for watching and studying avifauna. The Sundarbans has a population of over 4 million but much of it is mostly free of permanent human habitation. The Sundarbans play an important role in the economy of the southwestern region of Bangladesh as well as in the national economy. It is the single largest source of forest producer in the country. The forest provides raw material for wood based industries. The vegetated tidal lands of the Sundarbans also function as an essential habitat, nutrient producer, water purifier, nutrient and sediment trap, storm barrier, shore stabilizer, energy storage unit and aesthetic attraction. The forest also has immense protective and productive functions. Besides production functions of the forest, it provides natural protection to life and properties of the coastal population in cyclone prone Bangladesh.

Sundarbans - The Existing Wildlife in the Forest





The Sundarbans is very rich in wildlife. There are high profile and vulnerable mammals living in two contrasting environments. The Sundarbans were home to approximately 500 Bengal tigers, one of the largest single populations of tigers.The Sundarbans provide a unique ecosystem and wildlife habitat. The river terrapin, Indian flap-shelled turtle , peacock soft-shelled turtle, yellow monitor, water monitor, Indian python and the Bengal tiger are some of the resident species. Some species such as hog deer, water buffalo, swamp deer, Javan rhinoceros, single horned rhinoceros and the mugger crocodile are seen there very often.

Sundarban - A Forest of the Real World



Sundari and Gewa occur prominently throughout the area with discontinuous distribution of Dhundul and Kankra. Besides the forest, there are extensive areas of brackish and freshwater marshes, intertidal mudflats, sandflats, sand dunes with typical dune vegetation, open grassland on sandy soils and raised areas supporting a variety of terrestrial shrubs and trees.
